Profile
Layne Christensen, with its dominant position in water related services, is positioned incisively to benefit from the dwindling supply of accessible drinking water around the world. Its market leadership in the mineral exploration drilling industry, as well as strategic niche positions in geoconstruction and energy services, contribute important diversification and round out its wide array of service offerings. Recent forays into new markets such as extraction of unconventional gas further elevate the company's potential growth profile.
Layne Christensen Company provides drilling services and related products and services in four principal markets: water resources, mineral exploration, geoconstruction services and energy services and production. Layne Christensen's customers include municipalities, industrial companies, mining companies, oil and gas companies and consulting and engineering firms located principally in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Africa and South America.
Water Resources
Maintaining Leadership - In addition to prolonging its dominance as the world's leading groundwater services company, Layne Christensen further expanded its capabilities with the acquisition of Reynolds, Inc. in September 2005. Our full range of water-related services encompasses: water well drilling, well and pump repair and maintenance, water and wastewater treatment and repair, construction of wastewater and surface water treatment plants, pipeline and sewer rehabilitation, well field design and development, pump installation, storage and aquifer maintenance and remediation.
Mineral Exploration
Finding Hidden Resources - Layne Christensen's exploration activities are driven by the need for identifying, defining and developing underground mineral deposits. This demand is influenced by economy growth, political conditions and the discovery rate of new mineral reserves and has led to the development and growth of mineral exploration in developing regions of world, including Africa, Asia and South America.
Energy Services and Production
Energizing Efforts -Exploration and extraction of unconventional gas has become increasingly important to augment conventional resources as the demand for natural gas increases. Layne Christensen provides drilling and oil field fishing services used to extract gas from sources such as coalbeds, shale and tight sands.
Geoconstruction Services
Solidifying Results -Layne Christensen's geoconstruction services are used to modify weak and unstable soils and provide support and groundwater control for excavation. Used primarily during the construction of dams, tunnels, shafts water lines, subways and other civil construction projects, our techniques include cement and chemical grouting, jet grouting, ground-freezing, vibratory ground improvement and micro tunneling.
